BONFIRE NIGHT!
Hi! We celebrated Bonfire Night on November 5th. We did it with lots of excitement and enthusiasm.
All the sixth-graders learnt plenty of facts about Guy Fawkes. After reading some texts and watching some videos, we were able to talk about whom he was and the gunpowder plot. We also are beginning to understand that this happened a long time ago in history. We discovered that some of us love history!
At the end of the lesson we read a poem out loud that some of us previously had learnt by heart. It was fantastic.
Hope you like it!
Remember, remember the fifth of November
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.
By God's mercy he was catched
With a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King.
